ALCOHOLIC OR ADDICT
What might be helpful?
At BLD Recovery, rather than being an ‘alcoholic’ or ‘addict’ I am considered a ‘HUMAN BEING’ with ‘one human being’s worth of value’ – a constant.
The tool ‘Unconditional Self Acceptance’ might be helpful in this regard.
I might ‘have’ or ‘have had’ an
UNHELPFUL Addictive BEHAVIOUR - UAB - rather than ‘I am’ that behaviour.
A ‘label’ is discouraged for this reason and a ‘label’ is reserved for a bottle, a jar, or other storage container - rather than be used on my precious 'self.'

Hope Is Something I Might Create
If I have done something unhelpful, or something which I would much rather I hadn’t done, or behaved in a way that seems compulsive, or against my better judgement, it turns out, RATHER than being from another planet, or broken, or a robot, I am a HUMAN BEING.
Capable of forming ‘a thought’ on the spectrum of human thought – helpful or unhelpful – with a HUMAN TENDENCY for it to be, more often, unhelpful – about a 2 to 1 ratio.
I might then decide to take a thought of mine much less seriously.
Capable of doing ‘a thing’ on the spectrum of human behaviour – helpful or unhelpful.
