Ivan Limb - Chairman

Apart from being the Chair of BLD's Board, Ivan Limb is also Executive Chairman of Cockatoo Ridge Wines.

Ivan holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, from Charles Sturt University. He has more than 15 years’ professional and management experience with Orlando Wyndham, one of Australia’s major winemaking groups, where he was responsible for many medal and trophy winning wines.

In 1993 he was instrumental in establishing Australian Vintage Limited, which crushed about eight percent of Australia’s vintage in 1995. In 1997, Australian Vintage was taken over by Simeon Wines Limited via a scrip and cash bid which valued the company at approximately $120 million. He resigned from Simeon Wines Limited in 1998 and has since developed ore than acres of vineyards in the Barossa Valley and at Waikerie, South Australia.

Mike Russell - Deputy Chairman

Mike has lived in the Barossa for the last 25 years, working in the Sales and Marketing area of packaging in the Wine Industry. He is now operating his own business in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

He holds a degree in Applied Science and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management.

His local involvement includes being; a member of the Barossa Area Health Service Board (5 years as Chairman), a Life Member of the Barossa Valley Apex Club, and Chair, Tourism Committee for two years. During this period he has also served 35 years as an Officer in the Royal Australian Naval Reserves.

Michael believes that by being involved in our community, together we can all make a difference to the outcomes that are achieved.

Karren O'Brien

Karen graduated from University of NSW (Education, Economics) in 1992 and has been employed by TAFE SA since 1996 - currently as the Regional Educational Manager for the Barossa Valley Region.

Karren is committed to Vocational Education and Training and its vital link with workforce planning and the economic development of our region. She has been actively involved with the business development of Vocational Education and Training in the region through the successful management of private and publicly funded State and Commonwealth Proposals, Project and Tenders.

Karren's current community involvement includes membership on the 2005 Barossa Vintage Festival Committee and the Young Ambassadors (Barossa Dozen) Committee.

Daniel Eggleton

Daniel Eggleton has over 15 years experience in the Wine Industry throughout many areas.

Following extended periods with Orlando Wyndham Mountadam and Schild Estate, covering areas from Production to Winemaking and Exporting, Daniel recently moved on to producing his wines in partnership with local business people.

Drawing on a philosophy of minimal intervention and believing in the Barossa has led to the creation of the label Creed of Barossa.

Wayne Perry

Wayne founded Perry Trade Services in 1994 and since this time the company has grown and diversified to be a significant contributor to employment in the Barossa and Light Region. The company is a total trade solution including electrical, plumbing, security, automation and locksmith services.

Wayne has a passion for the Barossa and Light region and its local communities and is committed to do whatever he can to assist in the future development of the area. Local youth are the future of the region and in line with this he has been heavily involved in local workforce and education committees and institutions that help our youth find employment or suitable educational pathways.

Wayne has a view that we live in the best region, in the best state, in the best country in the world.

Samuel Gilbert

Samuel comes from a background of Audio Engineer and Network Engineer, as well as having broad skills across several industries. Currently Sam is the Managing Director of Caramel Computing Pty. Ltd. in Nuriootpa, a local IT company providing services to businesses. Caramel was a finalist in the Telstra and Australian Government Small Business Awards in 2005.

Sam initiated the Annual Technology Night, held each September as a technology information evening for businesses in the region, giving local businesses direct access to key technology providers such as Amcom, Microsoft, BigPond, Telstra Country Wide, Fuji-Xerox, and various high-profile guest speakers.

Sam is committed to the continued environmental and technological development of the region, and Caramel are major sponsors of several community organisations including Triple Bfm, Barossa Enterprises, Barossa Farmers Market and Trees For Life.

David Morcom

David joined the Board in July 2006 in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer for The Barossa Council. Prior to this appointment he spent 3 years as General Manager Corporate Services, Mildura Rural City Council. David has also held senior positions for the Break O’Day Council, Tasmania and various banking institutions across Australia.

In addition to his experience in Local Government, David holds a Bachelor of Economics (University of Tasmania) and Graduate Diploma of Management (Central Qld University).

David Lykke

David Lykke is currently Councillor with the Barossa Council where he has served as an elected member of Local Government since 1986.

David has served on the State Government Major Development Panel since 1996 which has put him at the cutting edge of development in South Australia. Major developments of interest to this region during that period are “The Mildara Blass Winery”, “Amcor Bottle Manufacturing Plant” and “The Beringer Blass Wine Bottling and Storage Facilities”.

David is a qualified agent, auctioneer and business agent and has hands on experience in small business having been a Proprietor/Manager of several real estate, earthmoving, agricultural and property maintenance businesses.

David has been involved with regional development since 1986 lobbying for the formation of Barossa Regional Economic Development Authority (BREDA) in 1993/4 and a founding member of that authority.

Robert Hornsey

Robert runs a successful Cereal cropping and Wool growing enterprise at Kapunda and has recently diversified into oilseed crops, namely canola. Robert has been a Councillor for Kapunda & Light Regional Council since 1993 and Deputy Mayor since 2000. He also represents the Light Regional Council Development Assessment Panel in the capacity of Chairman.

Robert also served as a member & presiding member of Lower North Animal & Plant Control Board overseeing the transition of Animal & Plant Control Boards to the National Resource Management Boards.

Robert has always been involved in community activities and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Kapunda, having joined in 1977.

John Heneker

John retired as Director of the Murray Institute of TAFE in June 2004. John moved to the Barossa in 1989 and has been involved in many community organisations such as, the Tanunda Football Club, Nuriootpa High School, the Rotary Club of the Barossa Valley, Chair, Barossa Wine and Tourism and Chair, Barossa Council Aquatic Committee.

John’s first career was in the furniture manufacturing industry, initially as an apprentice through to owner operator of a family company.

Living in the Barossa Valley has continually provided a range of opportunities. John believes that, “Contributing to your community’s development and growth is easy in the Barossa, we are surrounded with quality in every way, and all of us can add value through enthusiasm, commitment and ownership of our region”.

Leonie Boothby (Minister’s Representative)

Leonie is the Department of Trade and Economic Development Regional Manager representing the Minister for Regional Development on the BLD Board.

Her previous experience prior to joining the government has been in the private sector in a variety of industries ranging from banking to tourism, retail and hospitality.

Leonie holds a degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide and is a qualified CPA. Previous roles she has held have been in a broad cross section of areas such as finance, legal, operations, communications and general management.
